Apr. 4th, 2012 - Wednesday (not an anniversary or special occasion)
To commemorate today’s very random but extremely sweet event (he gave me flowers for the first time in our relationship), I thought I’d post up a picture of me smelling these very lovely cherry brandy orange roses! I personally love roses that have pink and another color blended like this (e.g. yellow, orange, white, etc.)! Looks like he paid attention when I mentioned what sort of flowers I like…. haha. Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised when I came home after work today to see them waiting for me on the bed. Hehe. AND I’ve officially forgiven him for not getting me any flowers up until now. Am I being too lenient? x)

I understand that it’s a very reasonable option to move out to New York once I finish up with my job here at the law school since I won’t have to take any classes, and I have a few months before I start nursing school on the east coast. Yes, yes, I understand. It’s not like I haven’t thought about it. Sure, it’d be awesome to not have to be in a long distance relationship if I move out there next month until May. Of course, I can always find a temporary job in New York to spend my time for three months. But you know what? Moving out there is a big deal for me. Once I move, I won’t be able to come back home for at least three years. Once I move, I won’t be able to see the people I know and love here in Cali. Once I move, everything is going to change. And I’m not saying that it’s a bad change. But it IS going to be a BIG change. So please don’t talk to me as if moving out to New York just because James is already there is the most obvious and simple decision I could possibly make. It’s not. I’ve been thinking about it for months, and I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do. All I know is, whether I stay or leave, I will be job hunting for a temporary full-time position so that I can at least be somewhat productive with my time.
For now, I may or may not be leaving California in less than a month for the next three years. I will be visiting him for Valentine’s Day but whether I will stay or not… I have not decided. Comments and feedback are welcome, but like I said, please don’t tell me that I have to move out there or that it’s the best thing to do. My life and time is just as valuable and though he is a big part of my life, my world does not revolve entirely around him. If I choose to spend an extra three months with my family instead of with him, who’s to say that I made the wrong choice?

I already miss him. He’s only been gone for about an hour or so, but I really miss him. I know I’m going to visit him in less than a month (25 days to be exact)… but this time it was so much harder saying goodbye than it was for the summer. I couldn’t stop crying the entire time I was driving him to the airport and then some more as I was dropping him off. Attached much? Very. After I see him in February, I may not see him for another two months… and then another two months… and another two months for the next two and a half years. That’s why it was so painful to see him leave tonight. I won’t be able to drive half an hour to see him whenever I want. No more late night diner runs just to read or watch The Office. No more movie nights. No more vacations and trips together. I’ll only be able to see him for a couple days at a time (at most) every couple months. I know it’ll be tough… but he’s so worth it.
On a side note, I met his family today! Got to talk with his cousins Morgan, Ely, and Mel, his aunt, his parents, and his two lovely nieces Madeline and Kennedy. Those kids are absolutely lovely. Hopefully they all liked me tonight! James said that they did so I’ll just take his word for it. I got to eat a very lovely dinner (lobster!), had coffee, and even received some pastries to take home. I was extremely nervous but everyone was so kind and generous! I’m really glad I had the opportunity to meet them all before James left. Hehe. So glad.
For now… just praying for his safe flight to New York and counting the days until I can see him again.
